FILM PREMIER

As the world went into lockdown because of the virus, SAE qantm annual premier night was cancelled. This was a big blow to many! As it is the one night of the year that all disciplines and students get the opportunity to come together in a night of artificially indulgence, to view the hard work that has gone into their projects and others projects. The schools hands were tied on the matter, so they would not be able to provide us with the night we had all been looking forward to.

I was not going to accept this as the 'be all and end all of the event'. I reached out to several places, event cinema Innaloo, Hoyts cinema Warwick and the Backlot in Leederville. The Titan brand cinemas were far too expensive for the likes of us students, the Backlot had the perfect little spot and the owner Ian was more than happy to allow us to use the space. ( For a fee of course )

After negotiations, I organised my production to go ahead and book the space. As the word got around campus that my production would be having a red carpet premier, more and more directors from my cohort of Tri 5 and the cohort of Tri 4 were getting in contact, asking if their films could also be apart of the event. Before I knew it I ended up with 9 films being shown, some of which were documentaries.

I had arranged, banners from office work, a photographer, red carpet and a limousine to pick up me and my cohort directors. Apart from Ian almost shutting down the event half way through due to the amount of people who showed, the event was a total success. I had arranged a limousine to pick up me and my cohort directors

I am now the first person from SAE Perth campus to host my own film festival .( As the lectures regarded it as ) I have now started a trend at the campus, not for film events per se , but for the inspired act, that if there's is something you can do about the thing you want, you can achieve it, you just need to act!
