About me
My name is Jeremy La'brooy and I'm currently a student studying my bachelors in Film at SAE Quantum in Perth Western Australia.
My background in this field is mainly photography and advertisement as you can freely go through my other work portfolio. I used to think that advertisement and video logs was the ceiling for myself. After a lot of bad luck and my life spiralling out control I realised that I did not want to live my life like this and I wanted to make something of myself.
After maybe 6 months of feeling low an idea hatched in my mind, the question to myself was simple enough. What is the laziest occupation I can do for the rest of my life and be happy to wake up everyday and do it 110%.
While I was watching a movie I thought maybe playing video games could be the answer, just play video games and get payed somehow for it.. This was a almost hopeless goal. The longer I sat the more it dawned on me that maybe I could make films. I had always been captivated by movies, the way they were made and the behind the scenes.
As I was already doing something within that field I had a small understanding of how I liked things to look on camera. After inquiring into SAE and getting a tour around the campus I realised this felt right and so my journey began as a student.
I never put in 100% at school nor did I care as I was surrounded by tradesman, in which I had become a qualified concreter and had my own business, but it still wasn't fulfilling. This is the first time in my life iv put in 150% into my studies.
I grew up in a low income family in a bad rough neighbourhood, while everyone didn't mind settling for less I always imagined bigger and better. I have 3 other siblings, an older brother of 4 years, a older sister of 3 years and a younger brother of 3 years. I also have 3 half siblings. As I watch them slowly conform to the ways of life, working the jobs they hate to pay a mortgagee they will die to, To raise kids which age them and puts stress on their relationships I walk the other way. To stubborn to except a little.
I find my advantage is I know what I love I know my passion and I know where I can harness it. Ill do what I love everyday and get paid for it. Steve jobs said and I quote;
''You have to find what you love, this is the same for your work as it is for your lovers. Work will take up a big chunk of your life and the only way to do great work... is to love what you do, trust your gut and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become''.
In my eyes this is the greatest advice ever given to those searching for their passion and place in this world. Thanks to his words I didn't stop searching and have found it.. I loved Film, had it in my life and never realised.. So I will continue to excel and do the best I can till I have achieved my ultimate goal.
In the meantime I work as a bouncer at clubs to pay the bills and have cleaned up my act and look forward to my next couple years; sponging what I can so I can use it in my professional industry.
